We are delighted to be working alongside the Team at Sands NI and providing them with a Charity Firewalk on Saturday 16th September at the Dunsilly Hotel, Antrim. We would love it if you could join the Sands NI Firewalk and help raise money for the very important and much needed services that they offer.

Sands NI Firewalk

In 2013 in the UK, one in every 137 babies was either stillborn or died in the first 4 weeks of life. Here in Northern Ireland, over 3 babies a week are stillborn or die in the first 4 weeks of life.

About Sands NI

Sands NI is working to support bereaved parents and families, and to press for improvements in care during pregnancy and when a baby has died.

“He was beautiful; perfect in every way, except he never took his first breath, and we never heard him cry.”

In June 2006, a Northern Ireland Helpline was launched. Parents can now contact someone directly in Northern Ireland who has experience of stillbirth or neonatal death. There are currently 11 Sands NI support groups which meet on a monthly basis. The meetings are informal and anyone can attend. Sands NI also have a befriending service that covers the whole or Northern Ireland.

Some of the services which Sands NI offers are:

  • Support group meetings for parents
  • Memorial services
  • Befriending services
  • Liaison with local hospitals and health professionals
  • Fundraising for local and national facilities and services

Registration for the Firewalk is £30 per person and Sands NI ask that each person raises their own additional sponsorship
